Our new arrivals Peter and Irene, defied convention, and opted for the romantic age of the railway to transport them from their home in York to Stresa on the shores of Lake Maggiore, a route synonymous with the "Orient Express".
They arrived in glorious sunshine, with a further week in prospect.
