 A busy day today with fresh logs arriving early this morning, and all to stack before lunch. With temperatures at only 1°c the coffee and brioche were really appreciated. This afternoon I took the dogs for an overdue walk they seem to have so much energy on these chilly days!                                                         Una giornata impegnativa oggi con tronchi freschi arrivati stamattina presto e tutti da impilare prima di pranzo. Con temperature di solo 1°c il caffè e la brioche sono stati davvero apprezzati. Questo pomeriggio ho portato i cani a fare una passeggiata in ritardo che sembrano avere così tanta energia in queste giornate fredde!

After days of heavy rain it is wonderful to see the lake again again dressed in Autumn splendour! Dopo giorni di pioggia battente è meraviglioso rivedere il lago vestito di splendore autunnale!

 The changing seasons always give cause to take another photograph, I never tire of this view even though I pass it every day almost for over 16years. The tourist season is slowly coming to and end, and I am eternally grateful to have some normality back in our lives. The Bed and Breakfast is already taking bookings for 2022 especially from our regular guests. A good indication of renewed confidence globally.

Le stagioni che cambiano danno sempre motivo di scattare un'altra fotografia, non mi stanco mai di questa vista anche se ci passo ogni giorno quasi da oltre 16 anni. La stagione turistica sta lentamente volgendo al termine e sono eternamente grato di avere un po' di normalità nelle nostre vite. Il Bed and Breakfast sta già prendendo prenotazioni per il 2022 soprattutto dai nostri clienti abituali. Un buon segnale di rinnovata fiducia a livello globale.

The changing seasons are now evident in the garden as Autumn arrives, but today we are still basking in a very warm 23°c ! Il cambio di stagione è ora evidente nel giardino con l'arrivo dell'autunno, ma oggi ci stiamo ancora crogiolando a 23°c molto caldi!

 As the Autumn arrives, there is always frantic activity in the garden, a sense of urgency, with simply not enough hours in the day to prepare for a winter which could arrive in weeks or maybe a few months, such is the change and uncertainty in our climate. I have taken a photograph of the house and garden which is a blaze of colour today, and an impromptu view through the office window, which has an inviting view from the spacious balcony (pity about the towel  on the washing creel, my pictures demand perfection) :-)        Con l'arrivo dell'autunno, c'è sempre un'attività frenetica in giardino, un senso di urgenza, semplicemente non abbastanza ore nella giornata per prepararsi a un inverno che potrebbe arrivare tra settimane o forse pochi mesi, tanto è il cambiamento e l'incertezza il nostro clima. Ho scattato una fotografia della casa e del giardino che oggi è un tripudio di colori, e una vista estemporanea dalla finestra dell'ufficio, che ha un'invitante vista dall'ampio balcone (peccato per l'asciugamano sulla cesta, le mie foto richiedono la perfezione ) :-)

Lovely!

That really sums up our stay at La Casa del Giardiniere, the Bed and Breakfast of David and Penny. We were in the Annex room, which is a nice private room with a  bathroom, and its own balcony with a fridge with some complementary drinks. Their hospitality is superb. We felt so welcome and spoiled, and the breakfast is outstanding: David's fruit salad, and Penny's jams, marmalade and baked goods are legendary! Not familiar with the area or just unsure what to do? They offer great advice for outdoor activities, food and drinks, and views. The location is very convenient with lots of possibilities either locally or in the wider surroundings. We hope to visit them again next year! The photographs are on the well walked trail to Crampiolo, in the Alpe Devero region, a favourite with so many of our guests.

Amabile!

Questo riassume davvero il nostro soggiorno a La Casa del Giardiniere, il Bed and Breakfast di David e Penny. Eravamo nella camera annesso, che è una bella camera privata con bagno e balcone privato con un frigorifero con alcune bevande complementari. La loro ospitalità è eccezionale. Ci siamo sentiti così ben accolti e viziati, e la colazione è eccezionale: l'insalata di frutta di David e le marmellate, le marmellate e i prodotti da forno di Penny sono leggendari! Non conosci la zona o non sai cosa fare? Offrono ottimi consigli per attività all'aperto, cibo e bevande e panorami. La posizione è molto comoda con molte possibilità sia a livello locale che nei dintorni più ampi. Speriamo di visitarli di nuovo l'anno prossimo! Le fotografie sono sul sentiero ben battuto che porta a Crampiolo, nella regione dell'Alpe Devero, una delle mete preferite di tanti nostri ospiti.

A warm welcome to Martijntje and Pieter from Holland ( members of the wonderful Holscher family, and our honoured guests)Un caloroso benvenuto a Martijntje e Pieter dall'Olanda (membri della meravigliosa famiglia Holscher e nostri onorati ospiti)

 What a fantastic year we have had with the Holscher family, hosting Mother , Father, Son and now their darling Daughter and their respective partners all arriving independently over the past few months. All so super fit and outgoing. Climbing and or cycling all the local challenges, their energy, enthusiasm and warm personalities have won our hearts, Penny and I look forward to their next visit, hope it is soon!                       Che anno fantastico abbiamo avuto con la famiglia Holscher, che ha ospitato madre, padre, figlio e ora la loro adorata figlia e i rispettivi partner che sono arrivati tutti indipendentemente negli ultimi mesi. Tutto così super in forma ed estroverso. Scalando o pedalando tutte le sfide locali, la loro energia, entusiasmo e personalità calorose hanno conquistato i nostri cuori, Penny e io non vediamo l'ora della loro prossima visita, spero che sia presto!

 After the dark days of Covid lockdown, how refreshing to be open once again, and enjoying the  company of our wonderful guests Karin and Reinder. A special year for Penny and I as we also have been fortunate to have hosted their son Roeland and  Marlene, and next month we have their daughter Martijntje and Husband Peter to stay.                               Dopo i giorni bui del lockdown per il Covid, che gioia essere di nuovo aperti e godere della compagnia dei nostri meravigliosi ospiti Karin e Reinder. Un anno speciale per me e Penny, poiché anche noi siamo stati fortunati ad aver ospitato il loro figlio Roeland e Marlene, e il mese prossimo avremo la loro figlia Martijntje e il marito Peter che rimarranno.

Much to our astonishment we have decided to open our reservation desk for the season of 2022,Yes NEXT YEAR !! The decision has been made purely by unprecedented demand from clients all over the world who obviously feel confident to start travelling again. This iniative has been supported by most major airline operators, so lets all hope that all this optimism is well founded.

Con nostro grande stupore abbiamo deciso di aprire il nostro sportello prenotazioni per la stagione del 2022, sì L'ANNO PROSSIMO!! La decisione è stata presa puramente da una richiesta senza precedenti da parte di clienti di tutto il mondo che ovviamente si sentono sicuri di ricominciare a viaggiare. Questa iniziativa è stata sostenuta dalla maggior parte dei principali operatori aerei, quindi lasciamoci sperare che tutto questo ottimismo sia fondato.

 Earlier in the month we had the return of Pam and Chris from San Deigo in California, busy exploring the mountains, followed by Roeland and Marleen from Holland out on their bikes covering extra ordinary steep climbs and astonishing kilometres!

All'inizio del mese abbiamo avuto il ritorno di Pam e Chris da San Deigo in California, impegnati ad esplorare le montagne, seguiti da Roeland e Marleen dall'Olanda in bici percorrendo salite ripide extra ordinarie e chilometri sorprendenti!
