Welcome to Lake Maggiore and La Casa del Giardiniere.

Your hosts David and Penny are delighted to share their chalet styled house and home set in this magnificent region of Italy. A fascinating blend of Alpine and Mediterranean scenery. From the vast Val Grande, with it’s wilderness and adventure, to the high peaks of The Val’d’ Ossola, Val Formazza and the seven municipalities of Val Vigezzo, a walkers paradise, a place suspended in time and space.

Lake Maggiore’s shoreline by contrast enjoys a seaside coastal flavour, with it’s gentle microclimate, allowing exotic flora to flourish in sumptuous villa gardens, providing a wealth of beautiful places to visit.

Getting around is easy, as the lake offers a network of ferries providing breathtaking vistas and a cable car service to Mount Mottarone. From it’s summit you can cast an eye to nearby Switzerland, where daily cruises connect at Locarno to the stunning alpine railway, which provides a memorable return journey over the famous “cento valli”.

Lake Maggiore has so many interesting faces, central to which are the famous Borromeo Islands. Steeped in history, romance, and truly captivating is the “fairy tale’ Isola Bella, with it’s baroque palace and gardens, Isola Pescatori (Fisherman’s Island) and Isola Madre all but a few minutes by boat.

Benvenuti sul lago Maggiore e alla Casa del Giardiniere.

Penny e David sono felici di ospitarvi nel loro chalet situato in questa magnifica zona dell’Italia.

Un’affascinante panorama alpino e mediterraneo. Dall’infinita Val grande con i suoi sentieri selvaggi, alle più alte vette della Val d’ossola, Val Formazza e Val Vigezzo. Un paradiso di splendide passeggiate.

In aggiunta a tutto ciò c’è il lago Maggiore con il suo mite clima, sontuose ville e giardini e meravigliosi luoghi da visitare.

Muoversi attorno a tutto questo è molto semplice, poichè ci sono reti ferroviarie e anche una funivia che porta al vicinissimo Mottarone

Potrete visitare anche la Svizzera e la ridente cittadina di Locarno percorrendo la strada attraverso le montagne con il suggestivo treno delle Centovalli!

Il lago Maggiore offre svariate opportunità: principalmente famose sono le isole Borromee.

Isole piene di storia e tradizione. Isola bella è famosa per il suo palazzo dove ha soggiornato Napoleone, e per i suoi spettacolari giardini.

Isola Pescatori così caratteristica..un villaggio antico sull’acqua.

Isola Madre molto popolare per i suoi giardini e la varietà di uccelli rari che la popolano.

Le isole sono comodamente raggiungibili con i battelli che partono da Stresa.

How to get here:

Our nearest airport is Milan's Malpensa, only 40 minutes away. This is well served by all major airlines. We recomend car hire is booked with your flight provider. Alternatively, we do offer an airport collection and drop off service for a supplimentary charge. This rate is also dependant on numbers (max 4 people).

Unfortunately Google does not recognise this address, preferring our old name of Via Per Cologna. The name change, which was deemed a progressive move, occurred some years ago. Regrettably countless attempts to rectify our position have been thwarted by local bureaucracy.

In practical terms.

On leaving the A26 Autostrada at the Carpugnino exit, take the first sharp right, almost back on yourself, following the signs for Stropino, but also GOLF CLUB des Iles Borromees.

After about 300mts you will come to a wide left hand bend, with a sign post for GOLF des Iles Borromees ..continue to follow this sign for about another 200mts. You will see our house and sign post on the right.

Pepper our border collie will announce your arrival.

Purtroppo Google non riconosce questo indirizzo, preferendo il nostro vecchio nome di Via Per Cologna. Il cambio di nome, che è stato considerato un movimento progressista, si è verificato alcuni anni fa. Purtroppo innumerevoli tentativi per porre rimedio la nostra posizione sono stati contrastati dalla burocrazia locale.

In termini pratici.
Lasciando l'autostrada A26 all'uscita Carpugnino, prendere la prima a destra forte, quasi di nuovo te stesso, seguendo le indicazioni per Stropino, ma anche GOLF CLUB des Iles Borromees.
Dopo circa 300mts si arriva ad un ampio tornante a sinistra, con un cartello per il Golf des Iles Borromees .. continuare a seguire questo segno per circa un altro 200mts. Vedrete la nostra casa e firmare posta sulla destra.
Pepe il nostro border collie si annunciare il vostro arrivo.
