 A Christmas like no other, with festive gatherings and family reunions postphoned due to Covid restrictions. A year full of sadness but also one of resolve, testing the human spirit in adversity. We pray that next year sees some return to normality, and hope that through this dreadful experience and suffering that man is more considerate and compassionate in his thoughts and actions towards others. A better world would be a nice prospect!                                                                                                                         Un Natale come nessun altro, con raduni festivi e riunioni di famiglia posticipate a causa delle restrizioni Covid. Un anno pieno di tristezza ma anche di determinazione, mettendo alla prova lo spirito umano nelle avversità. Preghiamo che il prossimo anno veda alcuni tornare alla normalità e speriamo che attraverso questa terribile esperienza e sofferenza l'uomo sia più premuroso e compassionevole nei suoi pensieri e nelle sue azioni verso gli altri. Un mondo migliore sarebbe una bella prospettiva!

Fun and games in the snow for the dogs, and for Penny and I that wonderful soft velvety silence that comes with a fresh falls of winter. Divertimento e giochi sulla neve per i cani, e per me e Penny quel meraviglioso silenzio morbido e vellutato che arriva con una fresca caduta d'inverno.

 A year to remember in so many ways, and we seem to be going out with some unusual heavy falls of snow. It is rare in this region to get snow of any consequence in December, it is normally as late as February or March. With the B&B closed because of the pandemic Penny and I and Bess and Buddy make the most of our leisure time. In the kitchen we are preparing special treats to freeze for Christmas whilst the dogs leapt around the garden in frenzied activity, having great fun.                                                                                         Un anno da ricordare in tanti modi, e sembra che stiamo uscendo con alcune insolite pesanti cadute di neve. È raro in questa regione che nevichi di qualsiasi conseguenza a dicembre, normalmente è più tardi di febbraio o marzo. Con il B&B chiuso a causa della pandemia io e Penny e Bess e Buddy sfruttiamo al massimo il nostro tempo libero. In cucina stiamo preparando dolcetti speciali da congelare per Natale mentre i cani saltellavano per il giardino in frenetica attività divertendosi.

 "The lull before the storm". Whilst last weeks serene sunsets portrayed a settled period before Christmas, tonight the mood has changed with avengance, with plummeting temperatures and heavy snow for the next few days!

A good opportunity to work in the kitchen making the delicious but time consuming nut loaf!

"La tregua prima della tempesta". Mentre i tramonti sereni delle ultime settimane hanno rappresentato un periodo consolidato prima di Natale, questa sera l'atmosfera è cambiata con vendetta, con temperature che precipitano e forti nevicate per i prossimi giorni!

Una buona opportunità per lavorare in cucina preparando la deliziosa pagnotta di noci che richiede tempo!

Ten days of sunshine and with cloudless blue skies, but very very cold most days with temperatures start around 3°c. You dress like an onion with lots of layers allowing you to enjoy embracing walks and remove a skin as your body warms up.What a joy to soak up the astonishing Autumn colours this year. We have much to be thankful for!                Dieci giorni di sole e con un cielo azzurro senza nuvole, ma quasi tutti i giorni molto molto freddi con temperature intorno ai 3 ° C. Ti vesti come una cipolla con tanti strati che ti permettono di goderti passeggiate avvolgenti e togliere la pelle mentre il tuo corpo si riscalda.Questa gioia immergerti nei sorprendenti colori autunnali quest'anno. Abbiamo molto di cui essere grati!

I have to congratulate Penny for her determination and patience in knitting this beautiful jumper, all the more astonishing as Penny has not knitted for over 20 years, so that is quite an achievement! On a practical note it should keep the gas bills down.                   Devo congratularmi con Penny per la sua determinazione e pazienza nel lavorare a maglia questo bellissimo maglione, tanto più sorprendente dato che Penny non lavora a maglia da oltre 20 anni, quindi è un bel risultato! In pratica, dovrebbe contenere le bollette del gas :-)

 On our way to Stresa market this morning as we came round the bend in Brisino and were confronted by this stunning view. Heavenly clouds, snow capped mountains and the beautiful Autumn tints.

Durante il nostro viaggio verso il mercato di Stresa questa mattina, abbiamo superato la curva a Brisino e ci siamo trovati di fronte a questo panorama mozzafiato, nuvole celesti, montagne innevate e tinte autunnali!
