Togetherness...Stare insieme

Cats are usually such independent creatures, but our little family stay together, throughout the seasons. Safe and secure under the protection of Mr Pepper our faithful border collie dog.
  I gatti sono di solito tali creature indipendenti, ma la nostra piccola famiglia stare insieme, in tutte le stagioni. Sicuro e sicuro sotto la protezione del signor Pepper nostro cane border collie fedele.

Warm hearts brighten a dull weekend.
 A gloomy wet weekend was transformed by our wonderful guests Milena and Simone, whose spirits remained bright and positive. Their warmth and sincerity were uplifting and made our role as hosts an easy task. We look forward to their return together with some Spring sunshine. Grazie see you soon!
 Cuori caldi ravvivano un fine settimana bagnato grigio.  Un week-end bagnato cupo è stato trasformato dai nostri meravigliosi ospiti Milena e Simone, il cui spirito è rimasto vivo e positivo. Il loro calore e sincerità erano edificante e reso il nostro ruolo di padroni di casa un compito facile. Siamo ansiosi di loro ritorno insieme con qualche raggio di sole di primavera! .. Grazie a presto.

Buon voyage to our new French friends...Lydie and Gauthier. They arrived only for a short stay, but their warmth and courtesy left a lasting impression with Penny and I.
 We hope that they may return to soon to see the many attractions that this area of outstanding beauty has to offer. 
 Buon viaggio ai nostri nuovi amici francesi ... Lydie e Gauthier. Sono arrivati solo per un breve soggiorno, ma il loro calore e la cortesia lasciato un'impressione duratura con Penny e I.
Speriamo che possano tornare a presto per vedere le numerose attrazioni che questa zona di straordinaria bellezza ha da offrire.

   

A few more of Stresa's eccentric villas..Un po 'di più di ville eccenttrici di Stresa

Another afternoon of warm Spring sunshine and an opportunity to discover a  few more of Stresa's eccentric villas. All thanks to the courtesy of my friend Isabella who has a mind full of interesting information,although sometimes the facts may vary due to my understanding and translation!
As always when leaving Stresa you stride upwards on quiet avenues lined in palm trees, giving a slightly Mediterranean ambiance. The villas vary in styles which reflect architecture of far away places, the far east, and India were popular destinations for the Victorians and often after their journeys they would on their return start building to recreate their dreams, their fantasy's. As I mentioned in yesterdays Blog there are hundreds of examples in the region, it's for our guests to discover.
The photo's show Villa Teresita, on Via Fogazzaro from a few angles highlighting the spectacular tower, and the magnificent mountain background, and below a rather grotesque Villa in Via Lamberti, festooned in ornate carvings of nymphs, not a happy home for me, more like the house of Count Dracula.
 Un altro pomeriggio di caldo sole primaverile e l'opportunità di scoprire un po 'di più di ville eccentrici di Stresa. Tutto grazie alla gentile concessione del mio amico Isabella che ha una mente piena di informazioni interessanti, anche se a volte i fatti potrebbero variare in base alla mia comprensione e traduzione!Come sempre quando si lascia Stresa si stride verso l'alto su strade tranquille allineati di palme, dando un ambiente un po 'mediterranea. Le ville variano in stili che riflettono l'architettura dei luoghi lontani, l'Estremo Oriente e l'India sono destinazioni popolari per i vittoriani e spesso dopo i loro viaggi sarebbero al loro ritorno cominciare a costruire per ricreare i loro sogni, la loro fantasia per. Come ho già detto in Blog di ieri ci sono centinaia di esempi nella regione, è per i nostri ospiti di scoprire.Spettacolo del foto Villa Teresita, in Via Fogazzaro da pochi angoli evidenziando la torre spettacolare, e il magnifico sfondo di montagna, e al di sotto una villa piuttosto grottesca in Via Lamberti, festoni in sculture ornate di ninfe, non una casa felice per me, più simili la casa del conte Dracula.

Stresa's hidden gems..Gemme nascoste di Stresa

Stresa's hidden gems are to be found almost everywhere. After living in the area for almost 10 years, I'm embarrassed at my ignorance of some of Stresa's inner byways and  still stumble upon curious little alleys, leading to beautiful villas, and footpaths and mule trails that go back hundreds of years.
This afternoons divergence took us up a steep track Via Manzoni, leading into Via Castello, en route we passed Poggio Castello a magnificent villa, with large private gardens. A quick photo in glaring sun light does not convey it's true beauty. The walk had to be curtailed with new guests arriving and preparations to be made, but I hope to return to this area with my  "camera in hand"to better capture it's charm and serenity. My thanks to Isabella my tour guide whose only recompense was to learn some rather confusing English grammar pronounced in my northern tongue.My Italian is still a source of great amusement but I persevere. 
 Gemme nascoste di Stresa si trovano quasi dappertutto. Dopo aver vissuto in zona per quasi 10 anni, Sono imbarazzato della mia ignoranza di alcuni dei sentieri interni di Stresa e ancora inciampare su curiose stradine, portando a splendide ville e sentieri e mulattiere che risalgono a centinaia di anni.

Questo pomeriggio divergenza ci ha portato su una pista ripida Via Manzoni, che conduce in Via Castello, il tragitto siamo passati Poggio Castello una splendida villa, con ampi giardini privati. Una foto veloce in luce sole abbagliante non trasmette è vera bellezza. La passeggiata ha dovuto essere ridotto con nuovi ospiti in arrivo e preparati per essere fatta, ma spero di tornare in questa zona con la mia "macchina fotografica in mano" per catturare meglio il suo fascino e la serenità. I miei ringraziamenti a Isabella la mia guida turistica la cui unica ricompensa era quello di imparare un po 'piuttosto confusa grammatica inglese pronunciato nel mio nord tongue.My italiano è ancora una fonte di grande divertimento ma perseverare.

First guests from Argentina....i primi ospiti dall' Argentina

A magnificent few days of sunshine greeted our first guests from Argentina. Gustavo and Heidi were wonderful company and we hope that they return to see the region maybe in the Spring or the summer when the gardens are in full bloom. I've taken a few contrasting photo's for us to remember our time together, Gustavo's expressions are very serious but belies a gentile humour!
 Un magnifico paio di giorni di sole hanno accolto i nostri primi ospiti dall'Argentina. Gustavo e Heidi erano ottima compagnia e speriamo che tornano a vedere la regione forse in primavera o l'estate, quando i giardini sono in piena fioritura. Ho preso un paio di foto di contrasto per noi di ricordare il nostro tempo insieme, le espressioni di Gustavo sono molto gravi, ma smentisce un umorismo gentile!

A quirky dwelling in Stressa..Una dimora eccentrico in Stresa

A quirky dwelling can be found opposite the post office in the centre of Stresa. Today whilst waiting for a friend,I noticed a group of tourists taking photographs of this tiny little un obtrusive cottage. It was only on closer inspection that I saw that the whole building was covered in antique  relics, pots pans, farming implements, all sorts of jolly bric a brac. 
 Una dimora eccentrico si trova di fronte l'ufficio postale nel centro di Stresa. Oggi, mentre in attesa di un amico, ho notato un gruppo di turisti che prendono fotografie di questa piccola casetta invadente delle Nazioni Unite. E 'stato solo un esame più attento che ho visto che l'intero edificio era coperto di reperti antichi, pentole pentole, attrezzi agricoli, tutti i tipi di jolly bric a brac.
