Another bright sunny morning in Stropino with no sign of snow and temperatures 10° above normal. In America, they have tornadoes, and heavy snow in Texas, and in the UK the worst flooding in living memory. A worrying trend with a global uncertainty. It makes the daily economic and political news look like trivia.
 Un'altra mattina di sole in Stropino con nessun segno di neve e le temperature di 10 ° sopra il normale. In America, hanno tornado, e la neve pesante in Texas, e nel Regno Unito la peggiore alluvione a memoria d'uomo. Una tendenza preoccupante con un'incertezza globale. A busy Christmas once again, with our Christmas regulars Jessica and Lars returning to visit parents in Stropino's village. This energetic couples life style encompasses global travel, living and working in the UK, and America.
We are very fortunate at "La Casa Del Giardiniere Bed and Breakfast", to live in the peaceful village of Stropino, surrounded by lakes and mountains, and yet we are only 35 minutes drive to Milan’s Malpensa, the main International Airport. London is only 100 minutes away. Small world eh!!
 Un Natale molto occupato, ancora una volta, con il nostro Natale abituali Jessica e Lars tornare a visitare i genitori nel villaggio di Stropino. Questo energico stile di vita comprende coppie globale dei viaggi, vive e lavora in Gran Bretagna, e in America.

Siamo molto fortunati a "La Casa Del Giardiniere Bed and Breakfast", a vivere nel tranquillo villaggio di Stropino, circondato da laghi e montagne, eppure noi siamo solo 35 minuti di auto da Milano Malpensa, il principale aeroporto internazionale. Londra è a soli 100 minuti. Piccolo mondo eh

Sunday 20th December 2015, Spring like conditions as we finish the Christmas decorations. After 10 years of Alpine snowfall, this unseasonably warm weather feels very strange, not at all festive. I hope Santa reindeer have rubber tyres on their sleigh as this year, the skies are superfluous.  
 Domenica 20 dicembre 2015, Primavera come condizioni che finiamo le decorazioni di Natale. Dopo 10 anni di neve alpina, questo clima insolitamente caldo si sente molto strano, per niente festivo. Spero che Babbo Natale renne hanno pneumatici sulla loro slitta come quest'anno, i cieli sono superflui.

Stropino sunset tonight was truly spectacular, and reminiscent of the solar activity 4 years ago. We have enjoyed months of dry, bright weather and sunsets like these are a wonderful finale to the days activities. It's mighty chilly with the gin clear sky with temperatures expected to be below freezing tonight. It is December after all although this mornings market in Stresa was almost as busy as August!
 Tramonto  in Stropino stasera è stato veramente spettacolare e reminiscenza dell'attività solare di 4 anni fa. Abbiamo goduto di mesi di secco, bright meteo e tramonti come queste sono una splendida finale di giornate di attività. Si tratta di mighty piccante con il gin cielo sereno con temperature che dovrebbero essere inferiori al punto di congelamento stasera. È dicembre dopo tutto anche se questa mattina mercato in Stresa era quasi affollato come il mese di agosto!

Festa dell'immacolata in Massino Visconti

The 8th of December is a national holiday in Italy, and celebrates the Roman Catholic belief in the virgin birth. It also follows the long weekend to celebrate that of Milan’s Saint Ambroggio. Amongst all the festivities this is traditionally the time most towns and villages put up their Christmas trimmings and decorations. Today whilst visiting Massino Visconti the sense of community spirit was much in evidence, with the Christmas tree being erected outside the towns tobacconists/ newsagents/ and cafe. It always reminds me of the open all hours shop and TV programme on the BBC.
 L'8 dicembre è una festa nazionale in Italia, e celebra la fede cattolica nella nascita verginale. Ne consegue anche il lungo weekend per festeggiare quello del milanese Sant Ambroggio. Tra tutte le feste questo è tradizionalmente il momento la maggior parte delle città e dei villaggi messi loro passamanerie e decorazioni natalizie. Oggi mentre si visita Massino Visconti il senso di spirito comunitario è stato molto in evidenza, con l'albero di Natale viene eretta al di fuori della città tabaccherie / edicole / e caffè. Mi ricorda sempre di un programma "Apri tutte le ore" TV della BBC che convoglia le attività del negozio all'angolo in una piccola città.

After another busy year with the Bed and Breakfast, I finally finished my first winter painting.We have been blessed with beautiful sunny weather,providing some superb sunrises and sunsets. This painting in Acrylic tries to capture the dramatic changing light at this time of year.
 Dopo un altro anno molto impegnativo con il Bed and Breakfast, finalmente ho finito il mio primo quadro invernale. Siamo stati benedetti con bel tempo soleggiato, fornendo alcuni superbi albe e tramonti. Questo dipinto in acrilico cerca di catturare la luce drammatica che cambia in questo periodo dell'anno.

The Robin' or 'The North Wind doth blow'? This nursery rhyme is referred to as either the North Wind doth blow or The Robin. 'The North Wind doth blow' is British in its origins and believed to have originated in the 16th century history. 'The North Wind doth blow' uses the olde English word 'doth'. The purpose of the words to 'The North Wind doth blow' is to ensure that a child associates security with home whilst empathizing with the plight of the robin. This therefore accounts for the confusion as to whether the poem should be called 'The North Wind doth blow' or the Robin.  Il Robin 'o' Il Vento fa soffiare '? Questa filastrocca è indicato sia come il vento del Nord doth soffiare o The Robin. 'The North Wind doth colpo' è inglese nelle sue origini e che si ritiene abbia avuto origine nella storia 16 ° secolo. 'Il Vento Nord doth soffiare' usa il termine inglese da vecchio 'doth'. Lots of colour in the garden still and fresh fruit even in November! another busy day pruning whilst the weather permits, and how refreshing to see so much colour as we approach winter. The winter flowering camellias in full bloom, and the bright red berries of the Nandina, in the lower garden through the "jasmine arch" we have a big crop of the bright golden orange Cachi or Persimmon as it is known in English. A succulent fruit full of vitamins,it tastes wonderful when eaten fresh from the tree.
 Un sacco di colore in giardino ancora e frutta fresca anche nel mese di novembre! un'altra giornata intensa potatura, mentre il tempo lo permette, e come piacevole vedere così tanto colore, mentre ci avviciniamo inverno. Le camelie in fiore d'inverno in piena fioritura, e le bacche rosse luminose della Nandina, nel giardino inferiore attraverso la "gelsomini arco" abbiamo un grande raccolto di brillante arancio dorato Cachi o Persimmon, come è noto in inglese. Un frutto succulenta pieno di vitamine, ha un sapore meraviglioso se consumato fresco dall'albero.

The changing seasons as seen at daybreak. Red sky in the morning, shepherds warning". Winters is on it's way, with temperatures forecast to be minus -4°c at the weekend.  Hard to believe when yesterday was unseasonably warm at 16°c.
A busy day today bringing inside the delicate shrubs, finishing the winters prune,the fig trees, the weeping willow, and this morning we have a delivery of 2 tonnes of logs to keep the stove burning in the cold days ahead ...brrrrrrrr.

New arrivals Tom and Jan arrive from New York. Both a bit weary from the long flight " jet lagged" but hoping to enjoy the magnificent autumn colours around the shores of Lake Maggiore and Lake Orta.

 Nuovi arrivi Tom e Jan da Stato di New York. Entrambi un po 'stanco dal lungo volo "jet lag", ma nella speranza di godere dei magnifici colori autunnali intorno alle sponde del Lago Maggiore e Lago d'Orta.

A perfect day to stride out and take the fresh air! Not forgetting the beauty of the forests this Autumn.

A lovely Sunday afternoons walk stopping to admire the wonderful Church in Carpugnino said to date back to AD 600, and then uphill through the forest full of Autumn glory to the small village of Comnago.
 Una bella domenica pomeriggio camminare fermarsi ad ammirare la Chiesa meraviglioso nel Carpugnino dice che risalgono al 600 dC, e poi in salita attraverso la foresta piena di gloria autunno al piccolo villaggio di Comnago.
