After the magnificent scenic coastline, we ventured inland to visit the majestic Tuscan cites and charming hill top villages. Our accomodation was near Certaldo Alto, a fortified town with some great value restaurants. This was about 30 minutes from San Gimignano, and about 1 hour to Siena, or Lucca.
By contrast the Tuscan plains were full of tourists, and the cities sweltering, but that said, the scale of the architecture and restored constructions were simply stunning.
It would be nice to return in the Autumn when the temperatures are a bit more forgiving.
Dopo la magnifica costa panoramica, ci siamo avventurati nell'entroterra per visitare il maestoso toscano cita e suggestivi migliori villaggi collinari. La nostra sistemazione era vicino Certaldo Alto, una città fortificata con alcuni ottimi ristoranti di valore. Questo era di circa 30 minuti da San Gimignano, e circa 1 ora per Siena, o Lucca.
Al contrario, le pianure toscane erano pieni di turisti, e le città soffocante, ma che ha detto, la scala dell'architettura e delle costruzioni restaurate erano semplicemente sbalorditivo.
Sarebbe bello tornare in autunno, quando le temperature sono un po 'più clemente.
