In need of sympathetic restoration. A challenge too far maybe? But we can dream. I pass this derelict farm house almost daily on my walk with Pepper. It nestles in magnificent woodland, and borders the lush fairways of the Golf Club Iles des Borromées. It's so sad to see this once proud structure with it's many happy memories deteriorating unloved and neglected. And yet all around one see's new dwellings under construction. What a senseless waste in these times of austerity!
Da ristrutturare simpatico. Una sfida troppo forse? Ma possiamo sognare. Passo questa casa colonica abbandonata quasi ogni giorno sul mio cammino con pepe. Si annida in un magnifico bosco, e confina con i fairways lussureggiante dei Golf Club des Iles Borromées. E 'così triste vedere questa struttura una volta fiero con i suoi molti ricordi felici di deterioramento non amato e trascurato. Eppure tutto circa un nuove abitazioni a vedere in costruzione. Che insensato spreco in questi tempi di austerità!

Escaping London for some late Alpine air and sunshine. Today's route commences in the hilltop village of Alpino, up to the summit of Mottarone 1500 mt, and the a steep walk down the other side to Lake Orta. About 5 hours walking to cover the 20 k distance,with breathtaking views .

Scappando da Londra per un po 'di aria di montagna in ritardo e il sole. Fond farewell's to Alan and Elaine from New York state. Despite the winter chills,congestion, high temperatures and annoying coughs,we think they enjoyed their stay. Hopefully we'll have sunshine on order for their return.

Winter arrived in the high mountains last night and by contrast my neighbour is planting his vegetables ready for Spring. His garden overlooks Lake Maggiore and is a source of great envy!

The glorious Mirtilli (American blueberry) which has provided us with months of fruit, now puts on it's crimson gown. And the iridescent "Choisya" with it's fabulous golden aura simply never fades. Wow!
