The dismal weather continues...E il tempo lugubre continua

Almost December and the dismal weather continues, yesterday was so horrible we never saw daylight. It remained grey and miserable, with a continuous murky mist swirling and clingy rain adding further to the already saturated ground. When will it end ?
 Quasi dicembre e il tempo lugubre continua, ieri era così orribile non abbiamo mai visto la luce del giorno. È rimasto grigio e miserabile, con un continuo torbida vorticoso nebbia e pioggia appiccicosa aggiungendo ulteriore a terra già saturo. Quando finirà?

A timely gesture to meet for Sunday lunch prompted a lovely reunion of some of Penny's old dance colleagues and friends. We enjoyed a fabulous warm welcome (as always) at the Ristorante Locanda Verbena, together with beautifully presented food, in a really cosy setting..I think the photo's attached convey the festive atmosphere.
Many thanks once again to Paola, Loredana, and Luciano for all their hard work in hosting us all, and for making this afternoon quiet memorable.

Una riunione pre Natale con i colleghi e gli amici

Un gesto tempestivo per incontrarsi per il pranzo della Domenica ha indotto una bella riunione di alcuni vecchi colleghi e amici di ballo di Penny. Ci siamo goduti una favolosa accoglienza (come sempre) al Ristorante Locanda Verbena, insieme a ben cibo presentato, in una realtà accogliente setting..I pensa della foto allegata trasmettere l'atmosfera di festa.

Molte grazie ancora una volta a Paola, Loredana, e Luciano per tutto il loro duro lavoro in tutti noi, hosting e per rendere questo tranquillo pomeriggio memorabile.

 

 

Casa Mailinne...between Baveno & Feriolo..on scenic Lake Maggiore

This morning I visited Italian friends who own "Casa Mailinne"..(so named I guess after their two charming daughters) The Property is situated between Baveno and Feriolo with breathtaking views of Lake Maggiore.
This a new family venture where they have allocated an apartment for guests which is within their household, but provides private and independent access. It is spacious,light and airy, and very well equipped with a lovely sunny lounge and fully fitted kitchen, a family bedroom, with both a double bed and a single bed, together with a cot if required. Questa mattina ho visitato amici italiani che possiedono "Casa Mailinne" .. (così chiamato Credo che dopo le loro due figlie di charme) La struttura è situata tra Baveno e Feriolo, con vista mozzafiato sul Lago Maggiore.

Questa è una nuova avventura di famiglia dove hanno assegnato un appartamento per gli ospiti, che è all'interno del loro nucleo familiare, ma offre accesso privato e indipendente. E 'spazioso, luminoso e arioso, e molto ben attrezzata con un bel salone luminoso e una cucina completamente attrezzata, una camera da letto della famiglia, sia con un letto matrimoniale e un letto singolo, insieme ad una culla, se necessario. Good morning sunshine, welcome back. How soon we forget that which has gone before.

A sense of urgency for those last minute jobs.Un senso di urgenza guida le mia attivita'

A sense of urgency guides my activities today for those last minute jobs in the garden knowing that winter conditions are imminent. That said we normally enjoy a few good weeks before Christmas of bright sunny weather with still a generous display of colour. This afternoon is a classic example of how the weather can change within minutes.
Other to do items this week are. Change the car tyres, for special winter tyres, now obligatory in the Province Piedmonte. Replenish the wood store and turn the existing logs to ensure that they are well seasoned. The food pantry, it is essential to fill the shelves with basic provisions just in case heavy snow falls should cut us off. This happens very rarely but with freak weather now always in prospect, it's not the time for complacency. 
 Un senso di urgenza guida le mie attività oggi per quei lavori last minute in giardino sapendo che le condizioni invernali sono imminenti. Detto che normalmente godiamo alcuni buoni settimane prima di Natale luminoso di tempo soleggiato con ancora un display generoso di colore. Questo pomeriggio è un classico esempio di come il tempo può cambiare in pochi minuti.

Altri articoli per fare questa settimana sono. Modificare i pneumatici auto, pneumatici speciali invernali, ora obbligatorie nella Provincia Piemonte. Riempire la legnaia e ruotare i registri esistenti per garantire che essi siano ben stagionato. La dispensa alimentare, è indispensabile per riempire gli scaffali con disposizioni di base solo nel caso in cui le cadute di neve pesante ci deve tagliare. Ciò accade molto raramente, ma con un clima strano ora sempre in prospettiva, non è il momento di compiacersi.

First snow on the mountains!...Prima neve sulle montagne!

First snow on the mountains!
Last night as the heavy rain abated, temperatures plummeted and this morning we woke to our first snow on the mountains. I guess that means "WELCOME WINTER brrrrrrr!" The saving grace is that sunshine is forecast for the next 10 days, maybe that's our little reward for all the recent hardship.

Ieri sera la pioggia cessò, le temperature sono crollati e questa mattina ci siamo svegliati con la prima neve sulle montagne. Immagino che significa "WELCOME WINTER brrrrrr!" La grazia salvifica è che è previsto sole per i prossimi 10 giorni, forse è la nostra piccola ricompensa per tutte le recenti difficoltà.
