Sadly all good things come to an end and our guests from Lincolnshire will soon be homeward bound. With the good weather continuing, we attempted a final circular tour of our immediate area. Leaving Stropino after a leisurely breakfast, we headed up Mottarone's mountains winding track s reaching the summit at 1560 mt..and were rewarded by clear majestic views. Afterwards we continued to descend the mountains scenic slopes to the shores of Lake Orta, and the town of Orta San Giulio. Our return journey took in the port of Arona , giving Chris and Ken the opportunity to scale the inside of the statue of "Cardinal Borromeo"..not for the faint hearted!..Then onwards to Meina, Lesa, and Belgirate before reaching Stresa and home..a welcome cup of tea...and a well earned snooze for the weary driver!

Purtroppo tutte le buone cose hanno una fine ed i nostri ospiti provenienti da Lincolnshire saranno presto Homeward Bound. Con il bel tempo continua, abbiamo tentato un ultimo giro circolare della nostra zona immediata. Lasciando Stropino dopo una piacevole colazione, ci siamo diretti verso le montagne del Mottarone tortuose piste che raggiungono la vetta a 1560 mt .. e sono stati premiati da una visione chiara maestose. Poi abbiamo continuato a scendere le montagne piste panoramiche sulle rive del Lago d'Orta, e la città di Orta San Giulio. Il nostro viaggio di ritorno ha avuto nel porto di Arona, dando Chris e Ken la possibilità di scalare l'interno della statua di "Cardinale Borromeo" .. non per i deboli di cuore! .. Poi avanti a Meina, Lesa, Belgirate e prima di raggiungere Stresa e la casa .. una tazza di tè di benvenuto ... e un sonnellino meritato per l'autista stanco!

May blossom and it's thorny crowning glory!
Pyracanthus, closely related to Cottoneaster, is beautiful espaliered against a wall; grown as a hedge or against a privacy fence; or even grown as ground cover on a bank. Its beautiful white spring flowers are an important source of nectar for bees and other nectar loving insects. Its evergreen leaves are neat and look good year round. Its dense, thorny habit provides great cover for birds and gives them very secure nesting sites.

Pyracanthus, strettamente legato al Cottoneaster, è bellissima spalliera contro un muro; cresciuta come una siepe o contro un recinto di privacy; o anche cresciuto come copertura del terreno su una banca. I suoi bellissimi fiori bianchi primaverili sono un'importante fonte di nettare per le api e altri insetti amorevoli nettare. Le sue foglie sempreverdi sono ordinate e guardare bene tutto l'anno. La sua densa, abitudine spinoso offre una grande copertura per gli uccelli e dà loro siti di nidificazione molto sicuri.

Within minutes of their arrival it became apparent that friendship was going to blossom. Language was not a problem a cocktail of French, Italian, and gibberish was sufficient for us to convey our thoughts and helped us elaborate on all aspects of our lives! Where there is a will, there is always a way!

Once again we say our farewells to guests who have captured our affections. Gillian and daughter Miranda seen here in La Casa del Giardiniere entrance en route to Malpensa's airport. Even with digital technology the memory cards were bulging to capacity full of holiday adventures. So many places visited, and still so much to see.
Start saving the dollars and let's hope to see you again next year!
Ancora una volta diciamo i nostri addii agli ospiti che hanno catturato i nostri affetti. Gillian e figlia Miranda visto qui in ingresso La Casa del Giardiniere in rotta verso l'aeroporto di Malpensa. Anche con tecnologia digitale le schede di memoria erano gonfi alla capacità piena di avventure vacanza. Tanti luoghi visitati, e ancora così tanto da vedere.
Comincia a risparmiare i dollari e speriamo di rivedervi il prossimo anno!
I have recently received some photographs from Angel and Raquel of the gardens on Isola Bella and Isola Madre which deserve a wider audience. They stayed at La Casa del Giardiniere in April, but the clever planting in the gardens ensures a fabulous display throughout the summer.
Recentemente ho ricevuto alcune fotografie da Angel e Raquel dei giardini di Isola Bella e Isola Madre che meritano un pubblico più ampio. Sono rimasti a La Casa del Giardiniere nel mese di aprile, ma l'impianto abile nei giardini garantisce un display favoloso per tutta l'estate.

The photo captures Cindy our American guest from California as she prepares for the "Lago Maggiore Express". This is a spectacular circular trip, that departs from Stresa by the ferry, and cruises up the lake to Locarno. Here Cindy will depart for sightseeing, and then return over the famous mountain range known as the "cento valli" the hundred valleys. This is negotiated on a special Swiss narrow gauge railway, with a panoramic carriage. The journey continues to Domodossola and then onto the conventional Italian railway for the short journey back to Stresa.
It's a wonderful day out that gives visitors a great overview of the areas natural beauty.

La foto cattura Cindy nostro ospite americano dalla California mentre si prepara per il "Lago Maggiore Express". Si tratta di uno spettacolare viaggio circolare, che parte da Stresa con il traghetto, e naviga fino al lago di Locarno. Qui Cindy partirà per visitare la città, e poi tornare sulla famosa catena montuosa conosciuta come la "Cento Valli" i cento valli. Questo è negoziato su una speciale ferrovia svizzera calibro stretto, con una carrozza panoramica. Il viaggio continua a Domodossola e poi sopra la ferrovia italiana tradizionale per il breve viaggio di ritorno a Stresa.
E 'una giornata meravigliosa che offre ai visitatori una grande panoramica delle aree di bellezza naturale.
